Gordon lives life in the fast lane, travelling the world to foster his many hugely successful business enterprises and to film his highly acclaimed TV series. But, despite the commitments of a busy work life, he has always believed that families should sit around their tables to eat together as much as possible. His latest cookbook gathers together over 100 inspiring and well-constructed recipes which everyone will enjoy cooking for their friends and family, including Chorizo, broad bean and mint couscous, Scallop brochettes with coriander and chilli butter, Smoked salmon and horseradish cream tarts and Toffee and chocolate steamed pudding. The recipes embody Gordon's strongly held opinion that we should support local producers and farmers' markets, that we should cook with seasonal fresh ingredients which haven't travelled miles to reach our plates and that we should celebrate the wealth of regional dishes available to us from Cornish crab soup to Bakewell tarts. Gordon shares the dishes that he loves to cook (and eat) when he's off duty. With chapters covering Hot and Cold Soups; Pasta and Grains; Fish and Shellfish; Meat and Poultry; Pies and Tarts; Vegetables and Salads; Puddings and Ices and Coffee and Chocolate, each recipe is introduced with an insight into why he has chosen it and includes tips on how to re-create it perfectly. With emphasis on simplicity for stunning results, the majority of the recipes are short and easy to cook. This beautiful book has been created by a top designer, in tandem with an amazing young photographer. While food is king in this book, sprinkled as it is with candid photos of Gordon and the family, this book allows you to share his love of life and the good things in it. Author Biography: Gordon Ramsay's radical career change at 17 years old led him to London and to fame and fortune as chef, restaurant-empire-builder and celebrity. Gordon has published nine bestselling recipe books, a hugely successful autobiography and has starred in a stream of successful television series including the award-winning Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, Hell's Kitchen and The F Word. He was appointed OBE in 2006.

Heston's Fantastical Feasts, Heston Blumenthal
5 Heston's Fantastical Feasts
Heston Blumenthal UK Bloomsbury Publishing 2010 1408808609 / 9781408808603 Hardcover New Book 24.2 x 19.8 x 3.4 cm
The book of Heston Blumenthal's hugely successful TV series Feast. This is the book of Heston Blumenthal's hugely successful television series Feast. Having already recreated the impossible 'Drink Me' potion from Alice in Wonderland and reinvented Henry VIII's mythical 'Cockentrice', Heston is back for a second series of 6 incredible new feasts inspired by history, literature and legend. Each chapter charts the realisation of a feast, with its challenges and ideas, culminating with the final recipes. This time, the feasts are based on themes which range from the whimsical to the phantasmagorical: Willy Wonka Feast; Fairytale Feast; Edwardian Feast; Gothic Feast; 1970's Feast; and, Feast of the Future. Heston stretches all these themes to the limit of culinary possibility. Delving into the dark fairytales of the 'Brothers Grimm', he creates poison apples, transforming pumpkins and Edwardian gingerbread houses with sugar windows. Dr Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham would tempt even Sam, while Roald Dahl's Lickable Wallpaper is an interior designer's gastro dream. In the 'Feast of the Future', we are introduced to the Futurist Cookbook which advised 1930's housewives that they should be dishing up 'Italian breasts in the sunshine', a recipe which Heston has resuscitated in all its scandalous glory. Feast is a mind-boggling and mouth-watering foray into the realms of the imagination. With characteristic inventiveness and attention to detail, Heston creates glorious feasts the likes of which the rest of us can only dream (or read). About the Author: Entirely self-taught, Heston Blumenthal is the most progressive chef of his generation. In 2004 he won the coveted three Michelin stars in near-record time for his restaurant The Fat Duck, which has twice been voted the Best Restaurant in the World by an international panel of 500 experts. In 2006 he was awarded an OBE. He lives in Berkshire with his wife and three children.

Jamie's Great Britain: Over 130 Reasons to Love Our Food [used book], Jamie Oliver
9 Jamie's Great Britain: Over 130 Reasons to Love Our Food [used book]
Jamie Oliver UK Penguin 2011 0718156811 / 9780718156817 Hardcover Good Good Book 25.7 x 20.0 x 4.5 cm
This book is really special to me. It has been a long time coming, but sometimes it takes a few decades of looking at other countries to realise how wonderful your own really is. I grew up in one of the first true British 'gastropubs', which my Mum and Dad still run today. For me, the heart and soul of real British cooking is food that makes you happy and puts a smile on your face. And that's what I want to share with you: the real essence of British food, done properly. Over the years, British food culture has embraced loads of different flavours and influences from all the people who have settled here and made Great Britain their home. I hope the food in this book reflects the open-mindedness of our culture as well as the beauty of Great Britain. There are over 100 of my favourite recipes here: some are indisputable classics, some are my versions of the classics, some should be classics but just haven't been made famous yet and others I've made up by picking from the great bounty of British produce. Writing this book has been a real labour of love and wherever you're from, if you love food, I think it will offer you a little taste of happiness.

The Naked Chef [used book], Jamie Oliver
10 The Naked Chef [used book]
Jamie Oliver UK Penguin 2002 0140277811 / 9780140277814 Soft cover Good Book 24.6 x 19.1 x 1.6 cm
Britain's most exciting young chef, Jamie Oliver combines bold flavours and fresh ingredients within simple recipes. He is at the cutting edge of modern life and modern British cooking. The Naked Chef has something for everyone - from those who want great food but want to keep it simple, to those who work for a living and don't have time to spend all evening cooking. It is about giving people confidence and getting them to feel at ease in the kitchen, even if they have never tried cooking before! When I first moved to London I rented a tiny flat in Hampstead, with a kitchen the size of a cupboard. After that I moved to a Hammersmith basement flat which wasn't much better, so I knew only too well the restrictions of a small kitchen with only basic cooking equipment. I had been cooking good food in a restaurant for some time, but found it difficult to re-create many of the recipes at home for lack of time, space, equipment or, sometimes, the availability to the average shopper of good-quality produce at reasonable prices. So, in an effort to re-create some exciting restaurant recipes in a limited kitchen, I found myself stripping down those recipes to something quite basic. I then adapted them, using what I did have in the cupboard, larder, fridge or garden. Using this principle I have built up a foolproof repertoire of simple, delicious and feisty recipes. At the same time I have tried to avoid culinary jargon and any complicated, time-consuming process that isn't justified by the end result. About the Author Jamie Oliver started cooking at his parent's pub, The Cricketers, in Clavering, Essex, at the age of eight and has since worked with some of the world's top chefs. He is now running Fifteen - one of the best restaurants in London and the subject of the television series Jamie's Kitchen Jamie has written for The Times, as well as for GQ and Marie Claire magazines.
