In this book the great Randolph Bulgin looks at the use and usefulness of the engine lathe, known by some as the "Queen of the shop." It is said by many that the engine lathe is the only machine tool in the shop that has the ability to reproduce itself when in the hands of a capable machinist. If I am ever told that I can only have one machine tool, it will be an engine lathe. Randolph brings his 50 plus years of metal working and machining experience to you in this, and all his other fascinating and enjoyable books. You will profit greatly from reading this if you are learning to use the engine lathe. About the Author: J. Randolph Bulgin is a fourth generation craftsman and blacksmith. A member of the Southern Highland Handicraft Guild since 1965, Randolph has worked as a certified weldor on nuclear power systems and as a machine shop foreman/supervisor for ALCOA. He has worked as a machinist/weldor in the petroleum industry and has taught many courses in both the machine shop/tool maker trades and the welding trades. For the past 20 years he has operated his own machine and welding shop in his home town of Franklin, NC. Randolph is also a member of Mensa.
